Before the Pandemic hit, there were only a handful of companies who used to hire employees for remote work and as this trend has become a necessity more than a choice, corporates and employees need to work on skills that make this new survival easy.
Therefore, I bring to you the most important soft skills one needs for effective remote working:-
When in office, we are used to interpersonal communication, which has benefits of ease to share and understandability, whether it is a board meeting or a friendly chat with colleagues. The onset of virtual communication (mostly written) which involves emails, texts, chats on video calls, etc. has become a reason for various conflicts and miscommunications among the managers and leaders.
Through online medium, it becomes difficult to share the emotions and feelings attached with the decisions taken, or suggestions shared, hence it brings a need for clear communication at remote work.
While working from home, the most important skills required is adaptability to change. Flexibility plays a major role here when it comes to adapting to the dynamic environment, where you are expected to fulfil work deadlines while caring for the sick at home, unavoidable noises from the neighbour, handling kids and whatnot. It requires you to adapt to the new changes while providing the same output to the company.
New technologies and innovative ways are being introduced by the companies to grow the efficiency of remote working and adapting to these techniques in less time have become a requirement for employees. From attending big corporate events online to participating in virtual team parties, the need to get digitally literate is very important.
Organizational Skills allow you to apply a systematic approach by arranging thoughts, time and tasks to accomplish goals efficiently. Some people are naturally well-organized, but others are not. Henceforth, it becomes very important to learn these skills as it is instrumental for the growth in career and work from home with ease.
