Leader’s Attitude: Why is this inevitable for you? | Ft. Virat Kohli
Who cares about a person’s attitude? If things are being done and you are ok with it, why worry about the attitude? Consider this example:
Let’s say Virat Kohli is an ambitious young man who wants to be an International Cricketer and represent his country India. He starts his journey by reading about cricket and read about almost everything from how to become a captain of India team to score centuries, etc.
After getting all this knowledge he went for a selection trial for a domestic cricket tournament. He got ready to face a ball and couldn’t connect a single ball for a while. The coach who was monitoring the trials looked surprised and asked, “What’s the problem, boy?” Virat replied.”Sir, I read how to play forward defence, cover drive and other shots but not able to, the ball is coming very fast.”
After a while, he did connect a ball with his bat but when he try to take a run, he felt discomfort.
Tell me, will he be selected in the trials? I think you have answered – NO!!
He knew it too and the next day he asked the coach to give him cricket training, And Virat started his training in the academy to nurture and grow his skills. He did that for years and finally got selected for India team. He later becomes the captain and people know him by THE RUN MACHINE Kohli.
But, imagine after playing international cricket for 10 years for India, one day Virat said to his coach that I am the captain and the best batsman and cricketer in the world, I will not practice now. tell others to practice, I will practice when I am willing to.
What do you think if Virat had replied like that? But we are all aware of how much he practices in the nets and sweat in the gym for his fitness, He has redefined the term cricketer for others to follow.
What is this? THIS IS ATTITUDE.
“ATTITUDE IS REALLY ABOUT HOW A PERSON IS.
THAT OVERFLOWS INTO HOW HE ACTS.”
It is not your knowledge which gives you results. It is your ATTITUDE towards your knowledge.
It is not your skills which gives you results. It is your ATTITUDE towards your skills.
And when you taste success, just like Virat you shouldn’t take that for granted and continue to pursue your super positive attitude.
BECAUSE IT IS YOUR ATTITUDE WHICH WILL HOLD YOUR SUCCESS FOR LONG.
Virat’s attitude is seen and followed by others and that’s should the attitude for every leader, be it in the family, organization or sports.
At last, I want to leave with these amazing lines I read in The Winning Attitude by John Maxwell.
Attitude . . .
It is the “ advance man” of our true selves.
Its roots are inward but its fruit is outward.
It is our best friend or our worst enemy.
It is more honest and more consistent than our words.
It is an outward look based on past experiences.
It is a thing which draws people to us or repels them.
It is never content until it is expressed.
It is the librarian of our past.
It is the speaker of our present.
It is the prophet of our future.
